Aside from showcasing new hardware at the annual convention, announcements on the next mobile operating system, the iOS 11, might roll out in addition to the OS for the Mac, Apple watch, and TV. There's also been rumours that the MacBook Pros - which were only released earlier this year - will get new speed bumps, given there's new and fast chips available for them. It's the event that's like Christmas day for iOS developers.
It's June, and that means Apple's WorldWide Developers Conference is right around the corner! "But I think we are at a point where AI does matter in the advertising spiel".
Showing the time, date and some notifications on the screen at all times makes real sense and it's something many would like to see arrive on the iPhone. This year there has been only 3 percent growth for the iPhone which by the lofty standards of Apple is nothing at all.
Apart from this, Apple is also working on a peer-to-peer payments service to pay to your friends easily. Previous year it tried to make Messages young and hip. There's a slimmer chance we'll see those features debut in iOS 11, since the report gave no launch time frame. Last year, the Siri Speaker went into an advanced stage. Apple could add more features and third-party integrations to the voice assistant, possibly part of a larger Siri overhaul. If Apple does release a new Siri speaker, it would mark the first major product category under Tim Cook's tenure since the Apple Watch.
WWDC also provides insight about what not to expect from Apple, at least in the near future.
The rumor mill expects Siri to get a major overhaul with iOS 11. "We expect that over time, at least a few million USA users would try out its new service and become a competitor to Amazon Echo and Google Home devices". "Hey Siri" functionality could be expanded, and third-party features don't now work for Siri on MacOS. The speaker will reportedly offer surround-sound effects and better audio than the Echo or Home, which suggests it may also be more expensive. But with Apple the most reliable expectation is that there'll be a surprise, so while a lot has leaked it's sure not to be everything. But, it appears that Apple could be gearing up to show off its 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2 version.
Considering that during the same one-year period, AAPL has seen its sales of iPhones stagnate (51.6 million sold in Q1 2017 and 51.2 million sold in Q1 2016), while iPad sales were down 15%, that massive increase in downloads is good news for Apple. In the past, these updates have been solid improvements to the products, if a little lacking in flash. One other product that is especially looked forward to from the side of Apple is its revamped MacBook Pro line-up of laptops.
One of the more remarkable rumours is that Apple could revive the 12-inch and 13-inch MacBook Airs by giving them a nice hardware bump, according to Bloomberg. The MacBook Air has been neglected by the company in recent years, but an affordable update to the smallest member of the MacBook family could help Apple with its push to reclaim the education market.
