Apple appears poised to unveil a voice-activated, Internet-connected speaker at its annual conference for app developers on Monday. Although the format is not exclusive to Apple, it's not yet clear how well the photos will work with non-Apple software and devices, which mostly use JPEG. And there's a dedicated place for your recent files. Today will feature exclusive premieres, new releases and a fresh look at all-time favorites, as well as recommended tips and how-to guides to help customers use apps in innovative ways. So rather than overwhelm you with verbiage, we'll try to reduce major announcements here to fairly short bullet items. Apple is introducing HEVC support for videos, promising up to 2x video compression with no loss of quality. We expect the stock to peak somewhere north of $160 at some point.
Today, the gloves came off, but the true battle for AR supremacy may not arrive until the new iPhone does in September. The company also announced a new version of Metal, it's graphics technology, called Metal 2. 27-inch iMac can include up to 64 GB. The new iPad starts at $649 and will start shipping next week.

Apple's new payment system isn't exactly a surprise. The precision with which the 3D virtual objects were placed on a real table was staggering, there was hell breaking loose on what can only be assumed was a quiet refuge for survivors.
You'll also see some new Apple Pencil features being shown off in the video including quick access to Notes with a single tap from the lock screen and new annotation features.
Apple is trying to make augmented reality a reality with new tools for iPhones and iPads. Apple said that it believes this computer can compete with similar configurations that it says could cost as much as $7,000. The speaker will also be able to sense the size of the room using acoustics. Amazon is coming to the Apple TV app and all Apple TVs will be equipped with Prime Video by the end of the year. Apple said that makes the Mac a great platform for development virtual-reality "experiences".
All in all, there's plenty to look forward to when the iOS 11 launches later this year. There were so many new announcements though CEO Tim Cook tried to sum them up into six broad categories. Expect more details later during the event. A new MusicKit API is also coming to allow third-party apps to integrate into the Music app more tightly. You'll be getting a bunch more information, though.
