After going 2-for-15 a night before and finishing with just five points in his debut, Lonzo Ball bounced back on Saturday.
It was Ball's Las Vegas Summer League debut against the Los Angeles Clippers.
One of the players that fans were excited to see on Friday night was Brandon Ingram.
It may only be a NBA Summer League game, but tonight, wen the Lakers take on their stadium rival Los Angeles Clippers, it will be the first time they see the super hyped Lonzo Ball in a Lakers uniform. He's supposed to make those shots but he didn't. For all the other reasons summer league isn't necessarily predictive of National Basketball Association performance (lower quality of play and smaller size, limited practice time and organization, the importance of National Basketball Association experience for the veterans who have it), don't discount the importance of the small sample size.
After going 1-for-11 from the 3-point line on Friday night, Lonzo Ball brought the crowd to its feet on Saturday against the Celtics draining a 3-pointer on his first shot attempt.
So far in the Vegas Summer League standings, the Toronto Raptors are a ideal 2-0 while a number of other teams have started out 1-0.
Down the stretch, Tatum proved closer, scoring six points in the final 2:34 as Boston turned a game that was even at that point into a victory. By pushing the ball up the court, the offense is initiated faster and it allows for easier baskets. Early in the game, he was a liability on pick and rolls. Initially, he chased the ball-handler around and through the pick and found mixed results doing so. He also grabbed three rebounds and had one assist. He was active on his man and rarely drifted too far away on help.
But Lonzo's problems weren't only on the offensive end.
Kuzma's combine performance opened eyes around the league, and he built on it with strong individual workouts that pushed him into the first round.
While the pass showed that he played loose and free from the start, Ball struggled offensively for most of the game.
One Summer League game is in the books.
Instead of talking his way around it or deflecting the question, LaVar insisted that it was the worst game that Lonzo has played in his life. It's only up from here!
