Mehbooba said time has come for every right thinking Kashmiri to rise against this macabre menace before it devours everybody around.
"The yatra is progressing smoothly and the terror attack has not dampened the spirits of the pilgrims", an official of the shrine board said in Srinagar. Inspector General of Police Munir Khan confirmed the toll and said 12 others including security men were injured in the attack.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijat Rupani, who announced ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of victims and Rs 2 lakh for injured, said that he will nominate driver Salim for bravery award. "The one thing we had all feared this year during the yatra. But I salute the people of Kashmir as all sections of society have condemned the attack", he told reporters here. "Our Prime Minister is making foreign trips while the people of the country are getting killed", she said, while addressing a rally in East Midnapur. The bus was travelling from Baltal to Jammu and when it reaches near Khanabal Anantnag district, terrorists brutally opened fire at it. "My prayers with the injured", he added.
Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, Omar Abdullah, said 'this is not something I would condone'. The minister called the meeting to review the situation following the attack.
The Delhi Police has also issued a high security across the national capital on Tuesday.
But the militant group rejected the allegation, calling the attack "reprehensible", and accusing India of trying to sabotage the freedom struggle of the Kashmiris.
The Amarnath yatra had been suspended from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu keeping in mind Burhan Wani's first death anniversary.
Originally the pilgrimage used to last for 15 days, but in 2005 the duration was extended to over two months.
This year, 30,000 additional troops have been deployed to ensure smooth and secure conduct of annual pilgrimage.
However, the deadly attack did not deter other pilgrims from continuing their journey towards the holy shrine, which is located in a narrow gorge at the end of a valley in the northern state. Security cover for Amarnath Yatra convoys is withdrawn after 7 pm and no buses carrying pilgrims are supposed to be commuting on a highway.
