This is not the first time that Andy Murray has called out someone for ignoring the achievements of female players.
Cilic had lost in the quarter-finals on his last three visits to Wimbledon, but the former US Open champion finally made it to the last four at the expense of the man who stunned Rafael Nadal in the last-16.
The 2016 Wimbledon victor and world No 1 Scotsman was hampered by a hip injury and eventually lost to American Sam Querrey in five sets in the quarter-finals.
However, Murray then found it hard to move freely and 24th seed Querrey eased to victory in the final two sets to claim a 3-6 6-4 (4-7) 6-1 6-1 victory on Centre Court.
Federer will now face Tomas Berdych in the last four after his match with Djokovic came to a premature end when the Serb retired due to an elbow injury. Muller had a marathon match of almost five hours in the previous round against Rafael Nadal, and he saw the court for more than three hours against Cilic.
Federer, who has yet to drop a set at Wimbledon, improved to 254-2 when winning the first two sets of a match. Querrey was seeded 24th, and came into Wimbledon ranked 28th.
That's because a number of American women, including Venus and Serena Williams, have found success in the majors for years. Querrey beat him in the quarterfinals.

Wimbledon has it's men's semi-finals all set to go for Friday.
"I think what has happened so far this year has actually proved that, the older you get, the better you are - look at Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal, what Serena Williams was doing and what Venus is doing now".
