The new Premier League season, which begins today with Arsenal facing Leicester City, will be the first to allow shirt-sleeve sponsorship deals following the end of the league's own partnership with Barclays at the end of last season.
- Bournemouth have lost all three of their opening-day fixtures in the Premier League, losing 1-0 to Tim Sherwood's Aston Villa in 2015, Jose Mourinho's Manchester United 3-1 a year ago and to Pulis's West Brom here.
Williams has stuck to his word after promising back in February to renew Pulis's contract near the start of the season.
Pulis is joined on the bench this year by new assistant manager and former Hawthorns boss Gary Megson.
"I've said all along that we are in a building phase which requires a step by step process", said Pulis.
Finishing 10th last season, West Brom hovered between mid-table and as high as 7th spot, with an unlikely shot at European football on the agenda at one point in the campaign.
"Having spoken to John at great length over the summer, we know this club has a direction it needs to follow and we are determined to do that".
The demands of the Premier League make it hard to blood academy talent and Pulis accepts the priority is to maintain the club's top-flight status.
"We can never underestimate just how important it is to keep our place in a league that is now the most famous and the most followed in the world", he said.
The Baggies were as organized in defense as they were in the final third, as they were able to add four more attempts throughout the second-half but were unlucky not to hit the target.
"Neither can we underestimate how hard that is".
Pulis has introduced youngsters such as Sam Field and Jonathan Leko to the West Brom first team during his time in charge.
