"He was sacked for the wrong reason", Clinton responded. She blames herself for the loss, but singles out other factors as well.
Hillary Clinton believes that were it not for James Comey, Russia, Wikileaks, Facebook, fake news, voter ID laws, or America's "endemic" sexism and misogyny, she would now be president of the United States.
'I was stunned to be honest.
"I think we both were a little wary, but we approached each other with good faith, good intentions, and open minds", Clinton wrote in "What Happened", her book released yesterday.
Clinton also said she could not say for sure that the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation on the election. "At times, I thought I must be going insane", the former first lady and senator wrote.
"I went from 26 points ahead to 13 points ahead, and I needed about 18 points in order to be sure to win Pennsylvania", Clinton said of the impact of Comey's notorious letter explaining he was re-opening the investigation. The administration mentioned his handling of the email investigation in its justification but Trump also said he was thinking of Russian Federation at the time.
"Our press ... has to take some hard look at how it covered what was the first reality TV candidate", Clinton said.
Clinton also implied that more needs to be done to investigate election security. "What if the Supreme Court had not reversed the Voting Rights Act, which I was proud to vote for when I was in the Senate, and I still maintain the kind of protections to make sure that no American is disenfranchised?"
"If I had been elected and this had come to light ... But I am more concerned now going forward that we haven't come to grips with what it means for future elections".
In just under two minutes, Clinton rattled off eight separate excuses for losing the 2016 election. "In my more introspective moments, I do recognize that my campaign in 2016 lacked the sense of urgency and passion that I remember from (husband Bill Clinton's 1992 campaign)".
