A MCDONALD'S worker gave birth in the restaurant bathroom and tried to flush the baby down the toilet, police said.
According to prosecutors, Lockner went to the bathroom several times during her shift with complaints of stomach pain, and during one trip a co-worker noticed blood on the floor, which she reportedly dismissed as her having a "heavy period".
Prosecutors say Lockner went to work September 4 at a Redwood City McDonald's complaining of stomach pains and visited the bathroom numerous times. However, a second employee who looked over her stall "saw a newborn baby face down in [a] toilet bowl", they alleged.
A California mother was arrested for allegedly trying to flush her newborn child down the toilet inside a bathroom at the McDonald's where she worked.
Lockner claims she did not know she was pregnant.
When the worker stepped down to go alert someone she heard the toilet flush and Lockner asked her not to call police.
But the Palo Alto Daily Post reports that the employee told her boss who did call the police, and officers arrived to find the baby boy without a pulse and not breathing.
It was rushed to Lucil Packard Children's Hospital and placed in an induced coma.
Though doctors gave the baby a grim prognosis, he stayed alive after being taken off life support and is expected to survive, according to The Daily Journal. The baby is in stable condition, but it's unknown if it has any brain damage.
Lockner was charged with attempted murder.
Locker is scheduled to be arraigned in San Mateo County court on September 18.
Lockner is being held in the San Mateo County jail on $11 million bail on suspicion of charges including attempted murder and inflicting great bodily harm to a child.
