USA officials reportedly confirmed that there are around 250 Americans who left the country to join the ISIS cells in Syria and Iraq, but there are no details about how many are still left fighting for the organization.
The SDF's assaults against IS in Deir Ezzor and in Raqa further up the Euphrates Valley are both backed by the US-led coalition.
But in early Thursday, Sept. 14, a spokesperson for the US-led coalition that works to fight the ISIS opted not to comment on the news about the American ISIS fighter. The campaign is supported by the Kurdish militia that dominate the SDF.
Israel had asked Russian Federation and the United States to prevent an Iranian presence, or that of any Shi'ite militia operating under Iranian influence, in southern Syria near the Israeli border in any cease-fire agreement.
Russian and USA battles against Islamic State in Syria have mostly stayed out of each other's way, with the Euphrates often acting as a dividing line.
In Iraq, Manning said, the handover to holding forces in Tal Afar in northern Nineveh governorate is ongoing and Iraqi forces continue counter-ISIS preparations for fighting in Hawija and Sharqat.
Manning said that in Syria coalition military forces conducted 16 strikes against ISIS targets on September 14 near Dayr Az Zawr city and Raqqa.
"We have asked for explanations from the coalition ... and necessary action to stop these jets".
The alliance has taken part in the USA -backed air and ground offensive aimed at forcing Islamic State militants out of Raqqah, the group's self-declared capital in Syria.
While a few others have defected or been captured, Hughes said this new fighter could provide valuable intelligence.
"I'm not saying this will happen tomorrow ... but this is the strategic intent", Bouthaina Shaaban said in a TV interview.
Shi'ite militias fighting with Damascus also launched attacks against Islamic State in the south of Deir al-Zorprovince along the border. Rich in oil, it is bisected by the Euphrates River and abuts Iraq.
'The Coalition's mission is to defeat ISIS in Syria and Iraq, and we will pursue ISIS fighters regardless of nationality'.
