Floriculture is one of the booming sectors. As we know that India is known for its rich festivals, cultures, traditions, and customs. Even the popularity of valentine day is increasing day and day, so today on any occasion people prefer to give flowers rather than other gift items. Flower represents love, peace and harmony.
It is said that for gardening there is no men too high or too low, it means that whether a person is rich or poor they can go for gardening as an employment. Every flower garden in any country represents its civilization, culture and fosters the refinement of its people. Gardening means development of beauty in nature. These are used in making garlands, bouquets, perfumes and even in medicines.
Maharashtra (India) is considered the number one state in the production as well as exports of flowers across the globe. Government is offering land to some proactive people who can start their own floriculture business here. If we talk about early 1990’s, it was virtually zero exports during that time, but in 2001 it has reached to 250 crores. You can say that there is a large demand in the global market for flowers. In India one stem of rose now costs around 25-50 paisa. Demand of flowers increases during the peak seasons.
Government of India has already requested the European as well as American communities to lower the import rate on Indian flower so that government can make it more attractive in the global market. There are some schemes and training programs on the floriculture industry which are being offered to the farmers and entrepreneurs in India.
Therefore, the floriculture could be the next big boom in the world after IT.
