Should you be investing in Indian IT companies when the rupee seems to be appreciating everyday? Is the boom over? Which companies should you be looking at?

Indian IT firms are still growing at breakneck speed. They earned nearly $50 billion this year, and grew over 40%. Their revenue growth was 10 times that of giants such as IBM. This has been possible because they still have a minuscule share of the world market and there is tremendous head room for those who want to grow taller.

The Fab Four have now grown increased to Super Six; Satyam, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant and HCL, called the SWITCH companies, have just upped their share of the US market to almost 2%, and are way ahead of their competition on growth. IT employment, excluding the hardware segment, has crossed 1.6 million in India alone. Software and hardware growth are now on separate tracks, and are exploding independently.

You may harbor reservations because some of these businesses are US-centric and their strength is pegged on the Dollar-Rupee exchange rate. With the US slowing down and the dollar weakening, their margins have been shaved, strange thoughts like working more for the same or even less pay have been thought, and the end of the world has been visualized. This may still happen, but only to small players without money.

The brighter ones are on to better things. IT usage is finding increasing applications in diverse fields and newer markets. Indian IT companies are showing the world what great innovation is, and the smarter ones are reaching clients in Europe and South America. The Rupee rise doesn’t scare them; it gets them to innovate.

Tech Mahindra, Patni, Mphasis and L&T are some of the firms that the NASSCOM ranks highly. You will also be hearing the names of firms like Corbus, Nagarro, Vcustomer, e4e, Synygy, ValueLabs and GobalLogic more often now. You may find Manthan, Anantara and Monarch staring you in the face where least expected.

What would you plump for… size, stability or growth potential? Or are there firms with all three?

More Info:
Many people borrow loans and more to invest. They borrow personal loans as well as payday loans and use up their student loans. As a result they collect debts resulting in a huge debt.

It’s ruled by unpredictability. But the Indian stock market is the most exciting emerging market, and investors are queuing up. Plan to invest in the Indian stock market? Let’s see what advantage you get over your international investments.

Investing has never been so much fun. Nor have you had so much choice. With several economies opening up, the whole world is at your disposal.

The market boom
The market is on a giddy rise; a 1,000-point leap for the BSE Sensex is now an established fact of life. Though you’ll have occasional dips, your money will wing its way upward most of the time. Most of the stock is correctly valued; returns on investment are excellent and the economy is booming.

Indian companies are showing a new confidence. Takeovers, acquisitions and mergers in the international market are on the rise. And this is now spreading across sectors: iron and steel, spirits, manufacturing, auto parts, not just IT. And as the juggernaut rolls on, so does the equity.

In your favor
Remember this, Indian corporates are growing despite poor infrastructure and seriously tangled red tape. The government is trying to make things better, and when that happens, you’ll rejoice that you invested today.

India Inc is certainly on a high, but you haven’t seen anything yet; in market shares and sheer size, Indian companies are still toddlers. Buy that stock, and you’ll watch it grow for several decades. What this means is that your investing dollar today will return for a long, long time.

Most importantly, investing in India makes sense because the stock market is disciplined and is regulated professionally. Yes, there are those who ask for more freedom (laxity?) in the system. In its present avatar, the market offers you short-term anxiety in the form of volatility; but it also guarantees you long-term happiness in returns.

Investing in India today is the best thing you can do for tomorrow. For the NRI, the Indian stock market offers great investing value, options, and returns.

Have you already invested in the Indian stock market? Were you pleased with your investment? Do you have any opinion to share with prospective investors?

Most of the NRIs, like myself, want to invest in India for the long term. We don’t need the money in the next 3-5 years. We are in it for th long haul. So what do we invest in ?

Your best bet at accumulating wealth is to invest your money in such a way that it grows as the time passes. One way to achieve this is to invest directly in stocks. But for those who don’t want to invest directly in stocks, the other way is to invest in growth funds.

It has been seen that in the long run, stock markets outperform other investment classes like bonds, bank deposits, and government securities. At the same time, they are fraught with risks because of the extreme volatility found in the stock market. Hence people tend to shun them.

But there is no need to avoid them. You can still enjoy the spectacular returns of stock market while minimizing the risk to your capital by investing in growth funds of the mutual funds.

As the name suggests, the growth funds aim to generate capital growth. They basically invest in stocks of various companies, whose prospects for growth are quite high. They choose companies operating in various sectors, with a bright future. Since diversification is the key to make profits in stock markets, the growth funds easily achieve it by spreading their portfolio amongst various sectors and amongst various companies of different capitalizations.

The growth fund has a fund manager whose job it is to study the prospects of various companies and choose stocks accordingly. S/he decides when to buy and when to sell. This takes away all the technical work from the hands of the investors. It also eliminates the chances of losing money, since the fund manager is a qualified professional. In fact, some mutual funds have even outperformed the market indices, generating massive returns for their investors.

But all this comes at a price. The mutual funds charge a steep entry load. An entry load is the fee charged by the mutual fund to recover its expenses like buying and selling costs, advertising expenses and distributor commissions. Besides, there are annual charges that can be as high as 6%.

Growth funds are a good way to enjoy stock market exposure. But if you are prepared to spend some time to study stocks, you too can achieve the same level of returns at a lower cost.

I personally have invested in the Reliance Growth Fund

You can also find other growth funds and do some research of your own. Top Rated Funds

Have you ever invested in growth funds?

Are you happy with the returns it is generating?

Do you prefer to invest in stocks instead? Do tell.
